Clearing up acne-prone skin is mission-critical for back-to-school. Adopting a skin-smart approach with a few simple steps can help keep breakouts at bay.

“Top priority is establishing and maintaining a daily skin care routine,” said Antonella Fiedler, business manager for Galderma. “Dermatologists tend to recommend a three-step approach that involves cleansing with a gentle foaming cleanser, treating with an acne-bacteria-fighting gel like Benzoyl Peroxide and hydrating with an ultra-light moisturizing lotion.”

Cetaphil Acne Principles is an example of a simple three-step system that helps attain clearer skin and takes the guess work out of product selection. The treatment is available in a starter kit and is also sold separately. The key to success is incorporating a daily skin care routine – so remember to be proactive when trying to avoid breakouts.

While closely adhering to a skin care regimen is essential, here are a few other important tips to keep in mind:

• Wash your face gently and avoid harsh scrubbing. This can irritate skin and lead to additional breakouts.

• Don’t pick and squeeze blemishes. This won’t clear up skin any faster and may spread the problem deeper into the skin, which can lead to scarring.

• Maintain a daily skin care routine for a normal healthy skin state. Treat acne regularly and prevent it from getting worse.

Although teenagers experience stress during the first few weeks of school, acne doesn’t have to be one of them. Following a dermatologist-recommended skin care routine in the morning and at night is the best way for teenagers to begin the year acne-free.

Acne is a common skin disorder that occurs when oil glands produce more oil and stick together instead of shed. This combination of oil and skin cells can create clogged pores. These are characterized as blackheads and whiteheads or outbreaks of pimples, nodules and cysts. Acne can be mild to moderate or in some cases, severe.

Acne can affect anyone at any stage in life, but it is primarily found in adolescents. A good way to take a stance in the fight against acne is to practice preventative measures. Keep the following in mind:

• Wash your face to remove make-up before going to bed each night

• Be gentle with your skin, do not scrub your face

• Seek medical treatment as early as possible from your dermatologist, family physician or pediatrician

• Wear breathable clothing that doesn’t retain sweat or moisture

• Never squeeze, pick or pinch acne pimples

• Follow a consistent daily skin care regimen

Simplify the process – when you look for products, ensure they are:

• Dermatologist-recommended

• Non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores)

• Non-greasy

• Non-irritating

• Fragrance-free

• Formulated with five per cent benzoyl peroxide, the highest level available without a prescription. This is a water-based, non-drying and proven acne-fighting agent

Products with these attributes are available over-the-counter for easy, stress-free selection. For example, Cetaphil Acne Principles is a simple three-step (cleanse – treat – hydrate) acne-fighting system that is clinically proven to treat mild to moderate acne. The three products are available in a kit format or sold separately, making it easy for users to follow a daily skin care regimen.

Is Science Redefining Clear Skin?

(ARA) – Image is everything for a lot of guys. Whether you want to look good for a date, impress the ladies at the nightclub or present a professional image in the workplace, the last thing you need is for a pimple to appear on your face.

Whether you’re 25 or 45, it’s bound to happen though. Just by their very nature, guys are prone to pimples. They spend a lot of time at the gym, which is a hot, humid environment; and they’re pretty active so they sweat a lot. When sweat combines with skin oils, dirt and bacteria get trapped in the pores, often leading to blackheads and pimples.

But there are things you can do to minimize the appearance of facial blemishes. If you aren’t doing so already, take these preventive measures:

* Drink plenty of water.
Staying hydrated (drinking at least 64 ounces of water daily) helps detoxify the body from the inside out.

* Exercise regularly.
This will increase blood circulation and oxygen flow to the skin, which may help with acne prevention.

* Shower immediately after sweating.
This will prevent dirt and bacteria that gets trapped in the pores from turning into pimples.

Even if you follow this process religiously, there always seem to be some pimples you can’t prevent. Once those appear, you may be tempted to slather on creams and gels. Yet often times these determined pimples seem almost topical resistant. Even the best known topical brands are inconvenient to use, seem to take a long time to penetrate into the skin, and can often lead to discoloration or irritation.

Prominent dermatologists have found that the most effective way to treat acne is with heat, a practice almost as old as time. Today the celebrity jet setters use ‘laser’, ‘light’, or the latest, Thermal Pulse Technology, to improve the skin clearing effects of heat. But it all started centuries ago when people would travel to volcanic sulfer springs and submerge their bodies in the hot water to cure their acne. People don’t do that anymore, but in Russia, teenagers have been known to place extinguished cigarette butts on their pimples to make them go away. In Argentina, they’ll rub a ring until it gets warm then place it on the blemish.

“We have things a lot easier here in the United States,” says Luiz Da Silva, inventor of ThermaClear, an FDA-cleared professional grade medical device that’s now approved for personal in-home use. “We’ve been able to take the tried and true anti-bacterial benefit of heat and improve its effect and application using highly advanced pulse technology similar to laser. The result – faster, clearer skin at the touch of a button. It’s truly amazing.”

What makes ThermaClear so effective is its proprietary Thermal Pulse Technology that neutralizes acne causing bacteria, using a unique “Two Second” treatment application time. The device is able to quickly treat visible surface blemishes, as well as those blemishes that are beginning to form deep down under the skin, and neutralize them before they ever surface.

To use, simply turn on the device, place the treatment tip on your pimple and press the pulse button to send healing thermal energy directly where the bacteria is forming. “This neutralizes the bacteria so it ceases to multiply, and allows your body to win the war against the blemish. Treatment time is only two seconds per pimple,” says Da Silva.

In an FDA-reviewed clinical study, ThermaClear was proven to treat pimples quickly, safely and effectively, clearing pimples in as little as 24 hours. Available without a prescription for home use, ThermaClear gives you a fast, easy and affordable professional grade treatment for pimples and breakouts. And unlike those old-fashioned treatments, you don’t have to keep buying a new supply or new expensive components every few weeks, since this device can be used over and over again without any monthly tip replacement.

Log on to www.acneheattreatment.com for more information about the device or to place an order.

If you are interested in keeping your face pimple free, there is some important acne skin care information that you should be aware of.

Skin Type

One of the first and most important pieces of acne skin care information is to figure out your skin type. You can do this quite easily. Start by washing your face normally and patting dry, and then take a small piece of paper towel and place it in the middle of your forehead. If the paper falls right off you have dry skin, if it sticks you have oily skin, and if it sticks for a minute and then falls off you have normal to combination skin.

Once you have determined your skin type you will be able to make much more informed and suitable choices in terms of the products that you use on your skin, including those you use to treat any acne that you may presently have.

Drink Water

Most people are already aware of how important it is to drink plenty of water, but many do not realize how big a part of acne skin care drinking water is. If you want the best acne skin care you should be drinking at least six to eight glasses of water a day, more if you can. This will help to keep your skin hydrated and leave it looking fresh and beautiful.

Use the Right Products

It is important that you are using the right products if you want the best acne skin care. You should have a regular skin care regime set up, which should include a proper cleanser, toner, and moisturizer.

Also keep in mind that there are certain beauty products which will help to even out your skin tone and give your skin an overall glow, including Skin Illuminating Complex by Elizabeth Arden, Vitabolic by Lancome, and Spotlight by Estee Lauder. There are other products that will help to firm and tighten your skin, and if you do have any acne they will help to relieve the redness and inflammation caused by it. This includes products like the Ceramide Time Complex Capsules by Elizabeth Arden, Diminish by Estee Lauder, and Anti-Gravity by Clinique, to name a few.

With the right steps you can have the healthy, beautiful skin that you have always dreamed of and feel better about yourself than ever before.

Before you can decide on a proper acne skin care treatment for yourself however, it is important not only that you understand about the condition of acne and what it involves but also that you know what type of acne you have and how serious your condition is.

This is important because different cases of acne require different acne skin care methods and so if you want to come out with the best possible results, these are things you are going to have to think about beforehand.

What Acne Is

Acne is a term that is used to refer to a skin condition, one in which there are plugged pores on the skin which results in pimples and even deeper lumps which are known as cysts or nodules. Acne can occur on almost all parts of the body, including the face, neck, chest, back, shoulders, and upper arms.

Acne occurs because of an overproduction of oil in the skin and this oil, which normally only lubricates the skin lightly, ends up getting trapped in pores of the skin and resulting in pimples. These are small skin swellings which sometimes contain pus and which can be incredibly unsightly.

Cysts are even more serious, and can often end up scarring the person’s face, even if they do not touch or pick at the cyst. There are whiteheads and blackheads as well which are both basically types of pimples, and blackheads are dark formations on the skin due to an accumulated mixture of oil and cells in a blocked skin pore while whiteheads are small flesh or white colored bumps that appear on the skin due to skin pore blockage.

Acne Skin Care

When it comes to acne skin care, you need to first determine how serious your condition is. Take into consideration how noticeable the acne is, as well as how often you get new pimples and cysts, and how long you have been suffering from the condition.

Once you have determined this you will be able to figure out which treatment method is going to work best for you, namely whether you will need a short or long term treatment. You can also speak to a dermatologist about your condition, as they are a specialist in this area and will be able to offer you the best guidance here.

Acne care begins with keeping the skin clean and free of excess oil and the us of defoliants can only help better with the prevention of acne. Acne is usually caused by a blocked pore in the skin allowing bacteria under the skin to grow and survive, ending up as an eruption on the surface of the skin.

It can be in the form of a blackhead or a whitehead and in many cases a pimple. While most people have the occasion blemish pop out, others may suffer from severe problems and require strong acne care to clear them up and help slow down the next out break. Persons with a tendency to suffer break outs should concentrate their acne care on their face and neck, which are more visible, as well as areas of the body on which they have the most frequent occurrences of acne.

Cleaning with a mild soap two or three times every day should be sufficient to keep the skin clean and the pores open. For those who suffer frequent our breaks may choose to foliate their skin as part of a regular acne care regimen, removing dead skin cells before they can mix with the skin’s oil and block the pores.

Using Right Products To Help Fight Acne

The most common ingredient in products used for acne care is benzoyl peroxide, typically in a fine percent solution, or for stronger products a 10 percent solution. This ingredient will break down the oil blocking the pore as well as kill the bacteria, helping to eliminate the current outbreak. However, not everyone can use products containing benzoyl peroxide as it causes a reaction to their skin.

Persons using these products for acne care are advised to stop using them if their skin turns red, burns or develops a rash. There are a few products that do contain this ingredient that can offer help in clearing up an acne outbreak. Those who can use it and successfully clear up, will want to use moisturizers on the face as well as benzoyl peroxide will dry out the skin.

Other methods, such as light therapy are being used by more people due to is success as a acne care treatment. Studies have shown that 99.9 percent of bacteria in the pores have been killed after three days of light treatment.

Acne is a skin condition that usually begins when greasy secretions from the skin’s sebaceous glands plug the tiny openings for the hair follicles. Blackheads, whiteheads, cysts and nodules may all form as a result of this, and some cases of acne are so mild that they are hardly noticeable whereas others are so severe that they can almost be debilitating.

For some people their acne is so bad that they become depressed and many do not even want to leave the house because they are so ashamed of the way that they look.

Before you can really choose the best acne care treatment for your condition, you should try to figure out the cause of your acne. Hormones are one of the most major contributing factors, and common acne in teenagers in particular starts with an increase in hormone production. Many adults often suffer from acne however, especially during stressful times in their life when their hormones are changing.

Excess bacteria is also a major cause of acne, as excess sebum clogs the openings to hair follicles on the skin and bacteria are then able to grow in these clogged follicle. Blackheads and whiteheads are what usually form as a result of this, and sometimes the follicle wall will even end up breaking under the pressure of this buildup.

Acne Care Treatment

Whether your condition is mild or severe, you are going to have to find the right acne care treatment for it. You should start with a simple acne care treatment, such as changing your diet or adding more exercise into your daily routine. Many people are not aware of the incredible effect that diet and exercise has on their skin, so this may be all you need to do to get rid of your acne problem.

You may have to go with a more serious acne care treatment however, and this would include for instance topical creams that you apply to the skin and which help to eliminate present acne and prevent future breakouts. Proactiv is one of these topical creams, which has been well reviewed all around the world.

It involves a three-step process that works to revitalize, cleanse, and tone the skin, and so not only does it help to treat present acne problems but as well firm the skin and remove fine lines and wrinkles. There are other similar options as well, such as Accutane, but the problem with Accutane is that it tends to have serious side effects and can even cause birth defects and liver dysfunction.

Often, it is not any one factor that causes acne but a combination of things which makes finding an acne skin care and treatment product so difficult these days. Basically, you have to experiment with a number of different products and give them time to work in order to find the best treatment.

Give It Time

Part of the reason why you might spend too much money buying acne skin care and treatment products is that you are not giving the medication enough time to work its magic. After all, your acne did not develop overnight, so why should you expect your acne skin care and treatment product to do the same? Allow at least two to three weeks for the treatment to work and if you see no discernible clearing of the skin, then chuck the product and try something new.

How The Treatments Typically Work

The majority of acne skin care and treatment products work the same way, at least in principle. The product works to help slough off the accumulation of dead skin cells which contribute to acne as well as kill the bacteria inside the pores that harbor there. The problem is that some of these treatments dry out the skin which can also cause acne, so it is almost like a catch-22 scenario.

You need an acne skin care and treatment product which not only works to eliminate the accumulation of dead skin, but also kill the bacteria that causes the breakouts and moisturize the area as well. You may think that applying moisturizer would clog the pores right after you use medication to clear them but there are many formulas which do not contribute to clogged pores.

While you can find an acne skin care and treatment product which contains the bacteria-busting medication and a moisturizer too, sometimes the all-inclusive treatments are not the best option. Instead, choose a plan which incorporates several skin care steps – exfoliation, medication and moisturizing. There are many acne skin care and treatment product lines which provide products that complement each other.

What to Look For

When shopping for an acne skin care and treatment product line, be sure to research the ingredients to ensure that there are indeed some bacteria busting components in there. Benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid and glycolic acid are just a few of the more popular acne fighting components that work to slough off the dead skin to open up the pores and eradicate bacteria.

Also, look for natural ingredients that will help moisturize and soothe the skin after the bacteria busting components do their job. Green tea extract, chamomile, aloe vera, vitamin E and panthenol are just a few of many healing and moisturizing ingredients that make an acne skin care and treatment product more tolerable to your skin.
