At Home Acne Treatment For Adolescents

Acne is a skin disease that may affect the face, the chest, the back and any other upper body part of any individual. Although, many people suffer from acne, most individuals who have acne are adolescents or teen-agers. This is probably a reaction from the changes that adolescents experience during puberty.

There are many treatments for acne. Some are at home acne treatments while others may need the assistance and guidance of a trained dermatologist. At home acne treatments are better for mild acne and not for severe cases of acne. The severe cases of acne may have different causes other than puberty hormonal changes and lack of good hygiene.

Some At Home Acne Treatments

Some people who get acne may like to try out some forms at home acne treatment before they go to an expert dermatologist for consultation. Some home remedies for acne include:

  • Cooked oatmeal, when it is already cold, apply it daily to the affected areas and let it stay for around fifteen – twenty minutes. Wash off.
  • Lemon juice and rose water, in equal amounts can be a great at home acne treatment. Apply on the affected area and leave there for half and hour and then wash off. This method needs to be done for fifteen to twenty consecutive days.
  • Fresh garlic is another at home acne treatment that could work since garlic is a great anti-septic. Rub the pounded garlic cloves on the affected areas, there may be a slight sting to this method.
  • A mixture of two to three tea bags and basil cooked in hot water for ten minutes can be applied to the acne with a cotton ball.
  • Ground Bay leaves blanched in water is another at home acne treatment that could work. Let cool before applying the ground bay leaves on the affected areas.
  • Ingesting fresh carrots and cucumbers are said to help reduce acne. You may also juice these vegetables and have them for a drink instead of eating them raw.

These are but a few at home acne treatment methods that may work for some individuals. Remember, the severity of the condition may need professional help. Do not leave off treatment from a professional too long especially if the at home acne treatment do not seem to work for you. If you have tried some of the at home acne treatment methods and they do not work them consult a dermatologist since you acne may need medication for your type of acne.
