Published by Author under Acne

If you have ever suffered with chronic acne you may have asked yourself numerous times what you can do, why does nothing seem to work and whether or not you will have to deal with this for your whole life. These are serious questions and acne clinics are one way that you can learn the answers to these questions as well as learning real information to help you deal with this skin condition.

There is a great deal of information available through a number of sources on acne. The difficulty is how to find out what information pertains to you and what information is actually something you should be reading or listening to and what is basically old wives tales, incorrect or outdated information. Acne clinics are a great way to resolve this worry.

What Are Acne Clinics

Clinics in general are workshops that are designed to handle a specific problem or subject and offer a product or service as well as general information. More often than not it is designed to promote knowledge about a particular subject. In the case of acne clinics in information and products that are being presented have to do with acne.

These are workshops that usually include a small lecture and then a demonstration. Then there will be hands on experience with learning about various products and techniques that fall under the category being discussed. These are considered hands on so if you are planning to attend one expect to get involved.

The one thing that is great about clinics like acne clinics is the fact that the information that is usually presented at these functions is factual and presented in such a way that is easy to read. If you are attempting to learn about acne and are looking for real information you may have noticed that you end up reading a huge amount of medical terminology that frankly can be difficult to understand and even to pronounce.

This often times leaves people feeling frustrated and with the hectic schedules that doctors keep it is hard to get in enough time to actually be able to ask questions and get more than one sentence answers. This is why clinics for these types of subjects exist. They are usually presented by medical professionals or knowledgeable people and are designed to provide real information and techniques to be able to assist you in dealing with acne in a successful manner.

Infant Acne Is A Hormonal Problem And Not One Of Oily Or Dirty Skin

Published by Author under Acne

Every parent would doubtlessly like to see their babies radiate happiness and own a pink and healthy face and the very last thing that they would want would be to have their young ones suffer from infant acne. However, the sad truth is that many babies are affected by this kind of ailment, especially those babies that are aged between 3 and 4 weeks and in certain instances it can even affect newborn babies as well.

Reason To Be Disturbed

The red bumps that have developed on the infant’s face can be quite disturbing for the parents though it is also quite common for these marks to disappear soon after they have begun to appear. Sometimes, however the scars may not go away so easily and in fact, it is also quite common for infant acne to sporadically come and go till such time as the baby has attained the age of six months.

It would thus be a good idea to consult a doctor regarding your baby’s infant acne problem which is a condition that has to do with the crossing over of the mother’s hormones into the infant through the placenta. In fact, infant acne is evidence that hormones are active in the baby which could even be in the process of being gradually worked out of the system.

In fact, it would not be wrong to surmise that infant acne is also part of the process in which the baby is cleansing out the unwanted hormones from its skin, and it would certainly be wrong to assume that infant acne is caused by oily or dirty skin and thus there is not much sense in washing the baby’s skin too frequently in the hope that cleansing through such means will purge infant acne.

To be sure, you do need to be careful about feeding your baby milk which along with spit-up can contributes to the worsening of infant acne and so you need to wash away any spills that occur; though, with a mild detergent only. In addition, you need to also realize that a baby blanket that has been washed in strong detergent and which is in frequent contact with the baby’s face can also cause infant acne.

Though, infant acne can certainly mess up your baby’s face, it will soon disappear once it has been treated properly, and so you need not be too disheartened about the problem. In any case, most babies have beautiful smiles that can help make you forget about those little red spots and which will outshine whatever unsightly signs are present on the face, and so, as a parent you need not worry too much because within six months the condition will have become normal once again.

A Typical Acne Wash Is Available In Different Sizes And Colors As Well As Shapes

Published by Author under Acne

It is quite normal to find that has developed acne that can occur on various parts of the body besides the face and which can even occur quite sporadically as well. Though it is normal to experience acne on the face as well as back, it is also possible to find that it affects all parts of the skin including the feet, genital area as well as legs. In fact, one of the methods that most people employ in treating acne is taking an acne wash which hopefully will help you get rid of the problem.

Lot Of Fun

It is certainly a lot of fun taking acne wash which are available in different shapes, sizes, colors, flavors and smells and in any case, the options facing you are many and you can choose according to the ingredients used in the different types of acne wash. The majority of them use two main ingredients which are salicylic acid and benzyl peroxide and whatever else is included only add to the style of the wash rather than having any real effect on the outcome.

No doubt, there are various types of acne washes to choose from, though one that you would want to use under normal circumstances would be the one that has salicylic acid even though most people actually go in for an acne wash containing benzyl peroxide. The truth of the fact is that salicylic acid is more effective than any other ingredient though when used to treat facial acne, its effectiveness is only moderate at best.

A good option as far as acne wash goes is to use the one made by Phisoderm, especially to treat the body, and by using these washes on a daily basis you should be able to reduce your acne condition by as much as ninety percent. To get rid of the remaining ten percent you may need to look for other solutions such as using lotions as well as certain skin care products which can help you to deal with acne that is affecting you in difficult parts of the body such as your back.

The bottom line is that an acne wash can help prevent any further inflammations, and a body wash would need to also contain special ingredients which will help to unclog pores as well as keep the body clean and thus prevents further inflammation of the oil glands as well as hair follicles.

Proactive Acne Solution - The Solution Of The Stars

Published by Author under Acne

Proactive Acne Solution is probably the most talked about mail order solution on the market for the relief of acne symptoms. The reason for this is probably the endorsements that it receives from large name stars. Over the years there have been a number of different famous faces that have provided the advertisement for Proactive.

Proactive was created by two specialists who were in the business of making people beautiful and simply took it to a step that allows people to be able to do it at home for a reasonable price. Proactive Acne Solution is not a cheap product it is made with quality ingredients. It is not however an all natural ingredient product. It is made with chemicals that are not suited for everyone.

It is a good idea before trying this type of product that you exhaust all over the counter remedies that can be purchased at a local store and then talk with your skin care specialist or primary care specialist.

Results Of Proactive Acne Solution

If commercials and advertisements are to be believed and with these types of products they are usually required to be then this particular product does do what it says for the majority of people. It is not suited for everyone and results usually vary. Though the variance in results may be actual usage based.

The Proactive Acne Solution is not just one product it is a line of products which are sold as a complete system that is designed to take care of all the things which cause the appearance of acne. It is designed to kill the bacteria in the skin that causes certain types of acne. It is designed to clean the skin to prevent dirt and oil build up from causing the appearance of acne and it is designed not to over dry most skin types in order to control the amount of oil the skin produces.

One of the biggest problems with products like the Proactive Acne Solution and over the counter methods is that the medication which helps to kill the bacteria and prevent them from over populating the pores can cause the skin to dry out. This forces the glands to increase oil production which in turn can contribute to the problem of acne. Whether you use a product like this or any other it is a good idea to test it out and see if it is something that can work for you.

Seriousness of Scar Affects the Acne Scar Treatment You Choose

Published by Author under Acne

For minor acne breakouts, once these areas have begun to heal, you will notice that they may have hyper pigmentation or a red area. As the skin heals from acne, this coloration is quite normal but it could take at least six months for your body to heal the area and leave your skin unblemished. With these types of minor scars, it is best to use an acne scar treatment such as Retinol or some type of hydroxyl acid to help promote and speed up healing.

However, if the scars from your acne are quite deep, such as those from nodular or cystic acne, what acne scar treatment should you decide upon?  The answer lies in the severity of your skin condition as well as what your dermatologist suggests that would best diminish or totally get rid of the scars.

Chemical Peels

For minor surface scarring that does not delve too far beneath the surface, chemical peels may be the best acne scar treatment for you.  The process involves the application of chemicals on the skin which serves to “injure” it temporarily and allow for new skin to grow.  Chemicals peels may have to be repeated several times before optimal results are achieved and sessions should be spaced out to allow maximum skin healing in between.

Dermabrasion and Laser Resurfacing

When you have light or shallow ice pick scarring from your acne, dermabrasion or laser resurfacing might be a good acne scar treatment for you. Dermabrasion is best when you no longer have active acne and no infections of the skin and there are superficial as well as deep methods. Deep methods which remove the epidermis and gets to the dermis level will take longer to recover from as the outer protective layer of skin is removed.

Laser resurfacing acne scar treatment involves using a high beam of light, typically with CO2 to “burn” off the top layer of skin which holds the majority of the scarring. This promotes new skin growth but requires constant care during the recovery process to prevent infection.

Surgical Methods

Surgical methods of an acne scar treatment may be necessary for those deep ice pick, boxcar or rolling acne scars. A punch excision may require punch tool to insert into the deep scar to extract the skin inside and then suture it to create a level surface. Sometimes there are bands of fibrous tissue under the skin caused by deep acne scarring which must be broken up with incisions made subcutaneously. This acne scar treatment, once healed will help to eliminate or at least greatly reduce the appearance of rippled skin.

Each acne scar treatment comes with its pros and cons and must be evaluated on a case by case basis with your dermatologist. There are other treatments not listed above that may work equally well. Your scars will be your guide when it comes to the acne scar treatment that would work best for you.

Getting Acne Help

Published by Author under Acne

There is no doubt about it, millions of people suffer from acne on a daily basis. While some people are lucky enough to find that one product that gives them the acne help that they need, many more people are faced with having no results. Too many times product after product is tried in hopes of finding that one that will finally do the trick and give them the acne help that they so desperately need and want. Acne is something that can truly mess with a persons self image so it is an important issue.

When it comes to over the counter products, even though cheap when purchased one by one, over a long period of time, a lot of money ends up wasted into the purchase of these things. Trying a new one every few weeks is what a lot of people do in hopes of finding what will work best for their skin type. But sometimes, there is nothing that is sold over the counter that is going to help them and their acne problem. This is when it is time to see a professional about getting some much needed acne help.

Making The Appointment

If you have done just about everything under the sun that you can think of, it may be time to see a skin care specialist. This doctor can take a good look at your acne and know exactly what is needed to solve the issue. Sometimes, just the use of a topical cream will do the trick and the cost of these creams is not all that bad. Also, some of these creams may even be covered by your medical insurance, as acne help is needed. If that is the case for you, then you may be looking at just a few dollars a month in co-pays, which is probably a lot less then you’ve been spending on other products.

If the creams do not work for you or the skin care specialist deems your acne problem to be much bigger then what the creams can handle, you may be given medication to take. Now, a lot of medical insurance companies will not cover the costs of this medication because it is extremely expense, unlike that of the creams. But when it comes to acne help, the medications given at this point are the best of the best. If the directions and the treatment plan is followed correctly, you will soon see that the acne help you have always wanted and needed finally arrived.

Four Acne Causes to Be Aware of

Published by Author under Acne

Pimples, pizza face, zits … there are many names for the face of acne and while there are many treatment options for it, you should be aware of the primary acne causes. If you have an idea of how acne is created then you have a better chance of alleviating most of the burden of it or at least greatly reduce the symptoms.

The Sebaceous Glands

Your sebaceous glands aka oil glands can be counted as one of the acne causes as they greatly contribute to breakouts.  Deep within the skin are these oil glands which are connected to a hair follicle and the oil produced travels up the follicle to lubricate the surrounding skin as well as the hair.

This hair follicle that the oil travels up through ends up into a skin pore so if your oil glands decide to go into overdrive, chances are the skin pore will become clogged. Stress and hormonal changes such as puberty or menstruation can increase the oil production and thereby contributes to the acne causes.

Skin Pore Obstructions

When the skin pores become blocked, whether by dirt, make-up or oil, these obstructions count toward the four primary acne causes. Basically, when dead skin cells are shed, they don’t always fall off but rather accumulate in the oil-clogging pores, creating whiteheads or blackheads.  When the dead skin accumulates with the oil and other factors, bacteria can enter the mix and create even bigger problems such as pustules or cysts filled with pus.

Bacteria

Bacteria are third in the line of acne causes and they are what make a simple clogged pore into something more serious. There are normal bacteria on your skin which serve to protect you from more harmful versions but when these “normal” bacteria get trapped in a clogged pore with the oil and dead skin, they fester causing possible swelling, redness and irritation.

Swelling and Redness

Inflammation can be counted among the acne causes and this occurs when your skin and body is working hard to rid itself of an invader (bacteria-causing acne). Pain, redness, warmth and swelling are the result and can translate into occasional breakouts to a full-fledged acne invasion, depending on the severity of the pore blockage.

If you can introduce a good skin care regiment, perhaps you can avoid the pitfalls of acne that so many people experience. Understanding acne causes can help greatly toward achieving your goal of blemish-free skin.

Knowing How To Get Rid Of Acne

Published by Author under Acne

For those who suffer from acne problems know the hardship of pain and suffering due to a seemingly superficial problem. While some people, who do not suffer from extreme acne, would claim that this is a problem of superficial means and that is why some insurance companies will not help, they do not understand that this could become something more. People suffering from severe acne know what it is like to hate to look into the mirror and to feel like everyone is looking at your acne instead of seeing who you really are. These things can lead to a lot of psychological problems down the road and only then do some insurance companies pick up the tab.

Knowing how to get rid of acne is more than just washing your face and not wearing makeup as some of this involved genetics. Some people are just prone to having extremely bad acne no matter how clean they are and no matter how they care for their face. For these people, this is probably the worst part about it as they can be left feeling hopeless and completely out of control over the entire situation. This is not a good feeling but luckily it is one that does not have to stick around for long.

Getting Help

If you seem to not be able to grasp how to get rid of acne on your own, even though you have seemed to have tried everything, it may be time to get some outside help. There are times where the acne is completely out of control and the usage of over the counter medications is just simply not going to do the trick, no matter how many of them you try. A doctor or even better yet, a skin care specialist will be able to explain to you how to get rid of acne for once and for all. There is a lot to be learned from your visit with the doctor and by the end of the appointment you should be feeling confident that you now know how to get rid of acne.

Your doctor will take a good look at your face and wherever else you are suffering from acne and advise you on what he or she thinks is your best course of action. This could include topical medications that are of a much higher strength then what you can buy at the stores or it could involve some antibiotics. Either way, with your game plan in hand, you will know how to get rid of acne by taking the time to seek out the proper help.

Cystic Acne – Skin Blemishes at Its Worst

Published by Author under Acne

Most people have been plagued at one point or another by acne, whether it is simple white or black heads to pustules, what most people call pimples. There is a type of acne that can be disfiguring and surely a detriment to your every day way of life. It is called cystic acne and people who have it are often called pizza face because the redness of their skin where these deep cysts reside.

Blocked hair follicles are the primary cause of acne because bacteria gets trapped with sebum, oil produced by special glands. With cystic acne, the infection is quite deep causing the redness listed above as well as tender pain around the pus-filled area. Contrary to popular belief, cystic acne is not the result of poor skin care or hygiene but rather a possible combination of several things.

Common Causes

The bacterial infection which causes cystic acne cannot be accurately assessed because each person is different and may have different origins. For sure, many researchers believe that genetics plays a huge part in who gets this nasty skin affliction which could explain why such a small percentage gets it.

Cystic acne can be quite scarring, especially if you pick or squeeze them, and you are liable to push the infection in much deeper causing it to spread. As mentioned above, hygiene is not a factor that contributes to cystic acne but some do believe that environmental factors and diet do play a part.

Indeed, cystic acne could be linked to exposure of certain toxins as well as an overproduction of some body hormone. In addition, anabolic steroids have been known to cause this deep and painful type of acne but with treatment and abstinence from these steroids, this condition will likely improve on its own.

Treatment Options

The one thing you do not want to do with your cystic acne is try to squeeze out the pus because this just makes the infection worse.  To ease the tender throbbing of this cystic form of acne, a doctor can use a sterilized needle to drain the pus from the site and with the application of antibiotics, hopefully kill the bacteria causing the problem.

When pus drainage and antibiotics do not work, prescription drugs like Accutane can slowly clear up the cystic acne, but the drug must be taken under the supervision of a doctor. Light exfoliation and occasional face peeling may work for some people while for others it may be a combination of treatment options and only with experimentation will you find one that best works with your cystic acne.
